Academy Award-winner Ben Kingsley stars in the Emmy Award-winning JOSEPH
(Best Mini-Series), the TNT original four-hour mini-series.
Joseph is the favorite
son of Jacob, much to the anger of Jacob's other sons. When Joseph turns seventeen,
his father weaves him a brilliantly colored fabric that is sewn into a beautiful
coat. His brothers' jealousy and hatred for him continues to grow until the
time when Joseph tells them of two dreams he had: how at harvest time his
brothers' sheaves of wheat bowed before his sheaf, and how the sun, moon and
the stars also bowed before him. His brothers become so enraged and threatened
that they attack him and sell him as a slave in Egypt. But when Joseph is
able to correctly interpret the Pharaoh's dreams, he is appointed chancellor
of the realm and saves Egypt from famine.
Over the years, Joseph
becomes a wealthy and respected man, and meets his brothers again when they
come to Egypt, the only land where there is enough to eat. They do not recognize
him, so he tests them by making them choose as to which brothers' life he
will take. Only when he is convinced that they have changed their ways and
are truly good men does he reveal himself to them. He forgives them for their
past deeds, and invites them and his father, Jacob, to settle with him in
Egypt.
JOSEPH is one of
twelve mini-series produced under "THE BIBLE" umbrella. It
is an international co-production of TNT and LUX, the Italian independent
production company; Germany's Beta Taurus; and the Italian Network RAI.
