Richard Harris stars as ABRAHAM, the father of Judaism, in the TNT original four-hour mini-series.

ABRAHAM is the story of a shepherd and his wife, Sarah, who heed a divine command to leave everything behind and set out for a new land where Abraham will be blessed and become the "Father of Nations" - if he holds true to his faith. Time and again, God tests Abraham during the most difficult journey, forcing him to share the barren Sarah's pain at remaining childless, wage war against hostile tribes and witness the destruction of the city of Sodom. Through it all, Abraham, Sarah and a group of their followers stay true to the word of God.

One day, three mysterious travelers visit Abraham. Abraham recognizes the voice of the Lord when one of the three strangers tells him that Sarah will bear him a son who will be Abraham's true heir. After a year, Sarah indeed gives birth to a son they call Isaac. Over the years, Abraham and Isaac grow close, until one day when God puts Abraham to the ultimate test, demanding that he sacrifice his son. Father and son ride to Mount Moriah, where they build an altar. But when Abraham ties up Isaac and is prepared to sacrifice his son, an angel is sent by God to spare Isaac's life. Abraham's belief in God is renewed, as is God's belief in Abraham as the true leader of a new nation.

ABRAHAM is one of twelve mini-series produced under "THE BIBLE" umbrella. It is an international co-production of TNT and LUX, the Italian independent production company; Germany's Beta Taurus; and the Italian Network RAI.
