The fascinating story of King David is told in this TNT original four-hour mini-series.

DAVID begins with the prophet Samuel presenting the Hebrews with their first king, Saul, a simple farmer who, with God's help, becomes a brave and mighty warlord. However, as Saul begins to have doubts about his mission, Samuel sets out to look for a new king. This is destined to be the young shepherd David.

David proves his worth by defeating the mighty Philistine, Goliath, and is heralded as a hero. Recognizing David as a threat to his power, King Saul tries to have him killed. David escapes death by fleeing into exile where he amasses many supporters, and his opportunity to become rightful ruler of the Israelites arises when Saul kills himself after being defeated in a battle.

The new King David enters Jerusalem with plans to live peacefully, with prosperity for all in his kingdom. However, his future as king is threatened by the sins of his sons as well as his own, when he plunges into an illicit love affair with the beautiful - but married - Bathesheba.

DAVID is one of twelve mini-series produced under "THE BIBLE" umbrella. It is an international co-production of TNT and LUX, the Italian independent production company; Germany's Beta Taurus; and the Italian Network RAI.
